My name is Will Smith. I imagine that you are thinking to yourself that how could a rich and handsome actor have the time to own and operate such a business. The reality is that while I enjoy the famous actor and his movies, I am not he. I am in fact a young not-actor that has a very eclectic personality and is interested in far too many things.

For example, I very much enjoy helping others and feeling of assistance in some way. It is because of this that I am a full time funeral director and embalmer. I currently manage a mortuary, cemetery, crematory in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In addition to helping people, I enjoy tinkering. This has gotten me into many doors. I am the IT manager for Larkin Mortuaries. I administer their servers, provide desktop support, networking, web design, and am the general button guy. Also, for the past three years I have been involved with the Utah Open Source Foundation as both the Conference Manager and now as a member of their board of trustees.

My involvement with this group has come about by my love for open source software. Not only do I like the whole free aspect, but also the assurance that I have choice. I love the idea of being able to choose, and if something doesn’t fit my needs I can make something that does or modify something till it fits.

With this last thought in mind, I present OpenByDesign. My goal is to help you as a business by leveraging free software to fit your IT needs.
